The City wants you to choose trees and scrubs that will enhance the picnic areas so they have some shade, but the trees must be strategically placed so they do not interfere with the open areas.  It will be your job to work with the architect to determine the types and sizes of trees needed.

It will be your job manage and budget the money assigned to the project  by the city. You will need to determin how much will be spent on gardening, picnic areas, and playground areas.

 Architect

Design and create a setting with the aesthetics of the park as in mind. You will also need to create a plan that reflects the length of the shadows that the trees cast on the picnic areas mid-morning and mid-afternoon (the longest shadows of the day). As a part of the preparation for creating your plan, you need to have an idea of the height of the trees you choose.

  • The city of New York has given you a $2 million budget to reconstruct 40 acres of land on the West corner of the park.
  • Using Microsoft Excell, create a spreadsheet to plan out your budgeting budgeting and list your initial budget. (Use functions if applicable)
  • Because you are the middle man, you need to work individually with both the Architect and with the Gardening company.
  • Work with the architect to find out what types of trees, plants, and equipment will be used in the design; and list them on your budgeting plan.
  • Then meet with the Gardening company manager to find out the cost of the equipment and plants requested by the architecture in order to determine the quantity that fits within your budget.
  • Meet back with the architect to discuss your findings and calculate your budgeting outcome.
